Taiko drumming in schools.
We can provide one-off taiko drumming workshops, whole-school assemblies, projects, and more at your school in Devon. Taiko drumming at your school can fit into many categories - sports, arts, cultural, PSHE (wellbeing & communication focus) - and is always very popular with children. We've worked in over 50 schools in Devon, many more than once, and particularly love to work within SEND settings.
Workshops can be booked by the whole or half-day, starting from £300.

FAQs
Space: a school hall is usually the best but we can down-scale to fit into classrooms
Numbers: we work with groups up to 32 children (this is 50% drum-time, but 100% engagement time)
Noise: the whole school will notice that something is happening, but it's not loud all of the time. We carry ear defenders for those who are sound-sensitive, and are very careful about volume & comfort levels.
Inclusivity: We usually get told that certain pupils in the class won't engage. We very rarely find this to be the case. We work in inclusive ways where everyone's contribution is valued and everyone celebrated. The more information we have about the class or individuals the better...we love everyone to have the best time possible.
Where to fit it into the curriculum:
Taiko drumming in schools is a great way to engage children. It can fit into music, cultural exploration, fitness & health, PSHE (communication & teamwork), Literacy (word-rhythms & phrases can be remembered and practices on the drums in a way that feels really fun and low-pressure), Numeracy - we can include lots of counting up, counting down, multiplying etc when drumming. Communication & wellbeing - themed sessions where we talk about specific issues and then create a drumming song around the content, and much more.
