More about our community taiko drumming performance group
Our community performance group has been playing taiko in and around Devon since 2015. Through movement, joy and discipline, we empower people to find their rhythm, keep fit, reach their potential and make new friends. We practice in Kenn, Exeter and welcome all to join us.
Our youngest member is aged 5 and our oldest member is in their late 70s.
Our classes are as inclusive and accessible as possible. Everyone is welcome.
We actively encourage a true connection with others in the group. In addition to a weekly session, members often meet up to practice, and extra sessions include sharing food together, helping to maintain the drums, and talking about issues from costume decisions to drum logistics. We strive to ensure that everyone is heard, and everyone feels not only welcome but integral to the group.
Happi Beats (formerly known as Taiko Journey Collective) plays within an hour's drive of Exeter for community & charity events. Please contact us here if you'd like to arrange a performance for your event.
