Autumn Gathering

A time to restore and belong in this wild time of overstretch.

Class Description

Join us for a restful day of drumming, song, story, making, a shared meal, belonging with self, others & land. The Autumn is a time of darkness that was traditionally perhaps a time to restore and connect and quieten, and is conversely now often a wild time of overstretch. This day has been designed with a sense of filling our cup before the season quickens, tending to our own selves, knowing the importance of self care in the face of immense work and holding. Throughout the day you can expect: gathering around a fire, singing, drumming, making, walking, resting, eating, & being together whilst having time to go within. You will go home with a token of your day, a little something we have made together to bring you home whenever you feel astray. Held at On the Hill in the Teign Valley, we will spend time in the beautifully cultivated gardens and farmland, and also in the Cob Barn. Please bring waterproofs and wellies, and also gripped thick socks or slippers if you think you might like cosy toes, as the Cob Barn is a no shoe zone. We will provide hot drinks, snacks and a vegetarian lunch - this is made from organic food from the farm where possible, and otherwise locally & sustainably sourced. If you would like to bring something to share, you are more than welcome. There is no need to have come to any of our gatherings or workshops before. If it calls to you, you are welcome. If a short but steep walk will make your attendance difficult, please get on touch with us to discuss so that we can do all we can to make this day accessible to you. This day will be held by Hannah Brunskill, Tina Sharman & Flora Pethybridge. Tina Sharman is a director and facilitator at On the Hill. Here she creates spaces for people to experience beauty and the possibility of becoming more connected to themselves, to each other and to life. Flora Pethybridge is a song and voice practitioner, working as a counsellor and facilitator in a diverse range of healthcare, education and nature-based settings. Using story and sound to explore the ways in which we can tend to the beauty and complexity of being human, her work is about supporting people to find an embodied and authentic relationship to voice and their own unique expression. Hannah Brunskill is the founder and director of Drum Up the Sun, and previously Taiko Journey, with 15 years of experience teaching, performing, and creating connection through powerful taiko (Japanese drum) experiences.
